SWITCH RESIDENCY 2020

Water In The desert was thrilled to offer its second switch residency designed to offer free space and a stipend to artists in the portland area. the original idea was to offer 3 artists 3 months of weekly studio space and to have a culminating public sharing, but due to the pandemic it ended up being 5 artists for 8 months, and although we reimagined all sorts of ways of having a showing it ended up being shared here digitally. it was such an honor to host these thoughtful, engaging, brilliant artists and we hope you can appreciate their offerings here! the artists have shared with us snippets from their art practices in a variety of forms and while these snippets are reflective of their work They are not intended to be totalizing, definitive, or received as finished works, but rather a glimpse into their multi-faceted practices. this residency was curated and organized by keyon gaskin, co-created with mizu desierto in 2019, and supported by the regional arts and culture council (RACC) both years. Thank you to these artists, organizers and RACC!
