The mission of Water in the Desert (WITD) is to create artful experimentations at the intersection of creative, ecological & social transformation.

Since 2007, we have created and presented original interdisciplinary artistic projects throughout the city of Portland. In 2010, we opened The Headwaters Theatre in north Portland to serve the local artist communities with professional, accessible and affordable space. More recently we have developed Prior Day Farm, an urban dance & permaculture farm in St. Johns, that hosts a revolving door of invited artists-in-residence and workshops in embodiment, informed by eco-somatic experience.

We pride ourselves in being an organization run by artists!
