The mission of Water in the Desert (WITD) is to create artful experimentations at the intersection of creative, ecological & social transformation.

WITD is a Portland-based arts organization that consists of two physical spaces (The Headwaters Theatre and Waterline Studio) and an extensive network of community and creative partners. We have been producing events, workshops, and performances since 2007. Our mission is to carve out accessible space for embodied, cross-cultural exchange at the intersection of ecological, social, and artistic perspectives.

WE are an organization run by and for artists that makes decisions by consensus as a non-hierarchical collective.

Through our Subsidized Space Program (started in 2021) we are offering free studio and theater space to under-served creatives in and around Portland, Oregon.

Our current team of collaborators includes: keyon gaskin, mizu desierto, Marilou Mariko Carrera, maximiliano, leo ariel, & Dey Rivers

Past collaborators include: Crystal Sasaki, Yulia Arakelyan, Erik Ferguson, and many others
