Humans love stories, and particularly stories about sex. Local Portland company Dance Naked Productions, known for creating smut positive theater, is proud to present Come Inside, an ENTIRE FESTIVAL of shows that wrestle with sexual themes and erotic explorations. Performers from all over North America will take the stage to share authentic, imaginative, libidinous stories of sexual exploration and adventure. Listen in on phone sex with Phone Whore, sing along with Shirley Gnome in Real Mature (like an “angel dry-humping a cloud), get curious about the gender journey in Ze: Queer As Fuck. With 8 different shows to choose from, you might find yourself torn between Bi, Hung, Fit...and Married, or Tales of a Sexual Tomboy. If you’ve ever tried to talk to a kid about sex, In Search of Cruise Control is a hilarious how-to. Come out for local performers Eleanor O’Brien (GGG: Dominatrix for Dummies), and Kelly Nesbitt (Dr. Tallulah’s Cosmic Fuck). It’s like Dan Savage’s Hump! Festival, only LIVE!
Dance Naked artistic director Eleanor O’Brien toured Canadian Fringe Festivals in 2015 with her solo show Lust & Marriage, and sought out shows that spoke to her love of stories about sex. “My criteria for bringing a show to Portland is that it must illuminate something for me about the nature of human sexuality” she explains. “I want to learn, and I want to be entertained. I look for shows that do both.” Come Inside features some of the gems she found touring the Canadian fringe circuit.
Come Inside will open with a bang (or several!) at the Star Theater on Wednesday September 28th, with Dixie DeLaTour’s Bawdy Storytelling. Bawdy features real people & rockstars sharing their sexual exploits live onstage. An award-winning series that conceived sexy storytelling almost a decade ago in San Francisco, Bawdy has been called “The Moth for pervs” (LA Times). Infamous up and down the west coast, this is Bawdy’s first time in Portland!
The Come Inside line up at The Headwaters includes 8 unique shows, with dozens of performances between Sept. 29 - Oct.8. The festival will include play readings from local performers, post-show conversations, and a Smut Slam for courageous contestants. Over these 11 days, Portland is your destination for sapiosexual exploration!
